National Diabetes Awareness Month- October 2023

Diabetes 2Abbey Road Medical Practice hosted its first Diabetes Awareness Session to help patients better understand diabetes and how it can be managed effectively.

The session covered the causes and impact of diabetes, the importance of regular monitoring, and the role of personalised care in supporting long-term health. Patients were also given practical advice on healthy eating, physical activity and lifestyle changes that can help improve diabetes management.

The event provided an opportunity for patients to ask questions, learn more about the support available to them and feel more confident in managing their condition.

We remain committed to supporting patients living with long-term conditions through education, prevention and ongoing community health initiatives.

Our community events form part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the NHS 10 Year Health Plan and reducing health inequalities within our patient population.
Through health awareness events, screening promotion, education and community engagement, we aim to reach patients who may face barriers to accessing healthcare, improve awareness of available services and encourage earlier prevention and intervention.
Our work supports the NHS ambition to move from sickness to prevention, provide more care within local communities and ensure that patients have fair and equitable opportunities to improve their health and wellbeing.
