Family Health Day- August 2025

Abbey Road Medical Practice hosted its first Family Health Day in August 2025, bringing together health education, preventative care and family activities in a welcoming community setting.

A key focus of the event was improving awareness and uptake of childhood vaccinations. Information stands and speakers were available throughout the practice to help parents understand the importance of routine immunisations and provide an opportunity to ask questions.

The day also supported the wider health of families, with blood pressure checks available for adults with our nursing team. Children were able to enjoy activities including a bouncy castle and face painting, helping us create a relaxed and engaging environment for the whole family.

The event aimed to make health information more accessible while encouraging families to engage proactively with their health and the services available through the practice.

Our community events form part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the NHS 10 Year Health Plan and reducing health inequalities within our patient population.

Through health awareness events, screening promotion, education and community engagement, we aim to reach patients who may face barriers to accessing healthcare, improve awareness of available services and encourage earlier prevention and intervention.

Our work supports the NHS ambition to move from sickness to prevention, provide more care within local communities and ensure that patients have fair and equitable opportunities to improve their health and wellbeing.
