Family Health Day-July 2026

Following the success of our first Family Health Day, Abbey Road Medical Practice hosted another family event in July 2026, expanding the range of health information, advice and support available to our patients.

The event brought together several local services, including the School Immunisation Service and Live Well Newham. The School Immunisation Service provided information and advice around childhood vaccinations, while Live Well Newham supported patients with healthy weight management, lifestyle advice and information on available local services.

The event had a strong focus on prevention, with blood pressure and blood sugar checks, height and weight measurements and BMI checks available for adults, alongside healthy lifestyle advice.

Alongside the health information and checks, families enjoyed activities including a bouncy castle, face painting, henna, children’s activities, prizes and refreshments, creating a welcoming and engaging environment for the whole family.

The event supported our ongoing commitment to prevention, improving access to health information and helping families make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.

Our community events form part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the NHS 10 Year Health Plan and reducing health inequalities within our patient population.

Through health awareness events, screening promotion, education and community engagement, we aim to reach patients who may face barriers to accessing healthcare, improve awareness of available services and encourage earlier prevention and intervention.

Our work supports the NHS ambition to move from sickness to prevention, provide more care within local communities and ensure that patients have fair and equitable opportunities to improve their health and wellbeing.
